History

The Perry Cook Memorial Public Library began with a bequest from the estates of Perry and Belle Cook, who left $15,000 for the creation, in the Johnsville community, of a public library.  Our doors opened for the first time in 1961, for just a few hours a day, a few days a week.  Since then, the library has been renovated twice and, with the purchase of an adjacent property, completed an addition that tripled the square footage of the building in 2009.
