PROGRAM COORDINATOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Programming staff

The Programming Coordinator creates, supports, and manages programs for children and adults. This includes identifying community partners, researching key literacy and STEM education needs, evaluating other adult literacy and youth STEM programs, making recommendations about best program design, coordinating mobile services van stops, and using performance measures to evaluate library programming.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience planning and implementing programs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, in both oral and written form. Ability to speak in front of an audience.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Strong commitment to superior customer service.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to comfortably manage change. Must be able to work as part of a team.
  • BA/BS preferred, but not required. Consideration will be given to applicants currently completing a degree program. Experience working in a library or public service position preferred.
  • Must be eligible for lawful employment in the U.S.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • A valid Ohio driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a background check.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Plans, coordinates and implements activities for a regular schedule of programs for all ages throughout the year, including special events, outreach efforts and annual open house.
  • Directly supervises programming staff.
  • Research, make contact with, and book potential educational program presenters.
  • Lead several programs each month, including obtaining and preparing all necessary materials.
  • Coordinate programs to complement and support library initiatives and community objectives.
  • Set up and clean up program space, assist presenters, and ensure patrons have a superior experience.
  • Employ various strategies and methods to market programs to a broad audience.
  • Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (e.g., Windows/Microsoft Office Suite of programs) and other job-related equipment and systems.
  • Prepare book displays, bookmarks, or other suitable materials to support program topics.
  • Maintain statistics on program attendance for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain programming budget and keep a record of all expenditures.
  • Maintain current knowledge of library and programming trends.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasional local travel required

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance at staff meetings, training, and other continuing education opportunities.
  • Adheres to, supports, and effectively implements administration and library board policies.

Hourly pay begins at $13.50/hour

REQUIRED SCHEDULE

15-20 hours/week, with flexibility for evening and weekend programs, as needed.
